Report: Japan’s Isuzu mulls terminating truck production in Russia
TOKYO, Sep 27 (PRIME) -- Japanese producer of commercial vehicles Isuzu is considering terminating truck production in Russia, Japanese daily Yomiuri reported on Tuesday citing sources in the company.
“The situation around Russia and Ukraine caused disruptions in supplies of car components and the local plant (in the city of Ulyanovsk) stopped production (in March). It is assumed that restoration of production there will be difficult,” the daily reported.
Previously, another Japanese carmaker Toyota decided to close its car plant in St. Petersburg because supplies of components became impossible.
Earlier in September, media reported that another Japanese carmaker Mazda was considering stopping its production in Russia. The information was confirmed by Sollers Auto, which has a joint venture with Mazda in Vladivostok.
